Wednesday Blues: Here's to You, LSU

All day today I thought it was Tuesday. Woke up this morning. Thought it was Tuesday. Dropped the Queen Bee off at school. Picked her up from school. Thought it was Tuesday. Read the news on the internet. Checked the weather on the internet. Still, thought it was Tuesday. Not until 6.00pm did I realize it was Wednesday.

Most of the time, this would be a gift, a rich blessing waiting to be bestowed upon me. Who wants to be stuck on Tuesday when they could be on a Wednesday--halfway through with the week? Not me. Not normally. But, this completely threw off my plans. Wednesday was going to be the day that I got things done. Get the cleaning done. Get some reading done. Get some writing done. Yes, I know, the plans still work but for a different day. It just doesn't feel the same though. I suppose that my goal of attaining the simple must be well on its way if my most complicated issues involve getting the date wrong.

In other news, The Christmas season normally makes me depressed. In my own defense, I think it's kind of a depressing holiday. It's a holiday, but it's really the only holiday with its own season. Yes, Halloween themes are prominent throughout October, Easter themes throughout the spring, and November has no shortages of pilgrims and turkeys, but those are occasions exist within a subtle context of background noise. The Christmas season overtakes the calendar like a European in South America and converts you to its religion. There are weeks of build up and then, poof, it's all over. It. Just. Ends. Time to put away the lights, the ornaments, the tree and then you're left with nothing but a bunch of crumpled wrapping paper tinsel flakes stuck in the carpet. Most Christmas music is slow and sad-sounding, too. Both "White Christmas" and "The Christmas Song" could easily serve as a funeral march. Christmas music is slow, depressing music. The Charlie Brown Christmas Special is pretty cool, though.

Looks like Oklahoma State is not going to play for the national title, which is too bad. You might have missed my argument for the school's inclusion in the title game. It doesn't surprise me, though. It's still exciting to see OK State make a BCS bowl--they're playing Stanford in the Fiesta Bowl, by the way, which will be a great game, I think. I also think the title game between LSU and Alabama will be great. I love low-scoring, grind it out football, and hopefully this game will be a repeat of the two schools november meeting, which LSU won 9-6. I've always been a fan of LSU coach Les Miles and I've cheered for LSU ever since he went there. Plus, it'll be extra sweet if he beats up on Little Nicky Saban one more time, don't you think?
